2409 "Kidder" has an amazing pedigree. In his line is Romeo (Holiday Ranch), Bonafide (Bent Tree Farms), and Holiday Romeo (Holiday Ranch). We brought him home, and after electric fence training, he went right to work. He's still a yearling, but has an amazing lineage, and will probably be working different farms for years to come. A big thanks to Forsythe Family Farms for giving us the opportunity to purchase him.
South Poll is a breed that was created by Teddy Gentry in the 1990's. He blended Hereford, Senepol, Barzona, and Red Angus to come up with a breed that would flourish in a southern climate, and be grass-efficient. The emphasis was on Fertility, Longevity, and a very Calm Disposition. It needed to have a moderate frame (1000 to 1,100 lbs.). It must be Heat Tolerant, and slick-haired adapted. It had to have good maternal instincts, and great udders with moderate milking ability. South Polls are easy fleshing due to their moderate frame and efficient feed utilization ability. They thrive on a grass-based diet, reducing the need for supplemental feed. They maintain condition without excessive inputs, making them valuable in grazing systems. Carcass data also confirms tenderness. South Polls minimize the need for supplemental feed, making them very cost effective, and environmentally friendly..... The perfect cow to meet all the grass fed requirements.
!521 has proven herself to be an absolutely amazing Southern Mama! She's had 3 amazing babies since she came to our farm (233, 524, and 525), with no complications. She is just a tiny bit shy, but that's a good thing when it comes to strangers. Her pedigree goes all the way back to Bent Tree Farms, with a very solid lineage containing Broadway, Dynamite, and Bubba Joe. This is the type of cow that every rancher wants to build their herd from, and she has never failed to disappoint.
We rented "Ralph" from some amazing people in Illinois, and he was a perfect Gentleman. We had a lot of bulls that year, which were turned into steers, but had one amazing heifer, 124(nicknamed Naomi by our granddaughter), which will be posted later. This is a Full Blood bull, with a pedigree line up of Brutus, from Bent Tree Farms. Dynamite, from Bent Tree Farms, and Broadway, from Bent Tree Farms. You just can't get much better then that. He was a big boy, but a very gentle giant, and from my understanding, he's now in Virginia!
Introducing "Baby Bull", born July 15th, 2023. He is headed to freezer camp mid July 2025, but has a fairly awesome pedigree. Baby Bull was born from a Pure Bred South Poll 1220(MMW 11713 717 1220). The sire is MMW 311 209 717, no name given, but I do know it was a full blood. 1220 Came through Chief at Bent Tree Farms, Bonafide st Bent Tree Farms, and Bubba Joe at Voss Land and Cattle Company. Very Impressive! He is going to make for some amazing Ribeyes!
